Thursday morning, the kids and I packed up and headed to Springfield. We were all excited to spend time with my mom. It was also the first day of the Illinois State Fair. Cohan was SO excited to ride a blue car and see the cow made out of butter. Ireland and I were excited to eat fair food. We didn't even do that when we went to the Boone County Fair.
A couple months ago, my mom sent Cohan and Ireland a book, Good Night Springfield. In the book, a little girl visits lots of sites in Springfield. One of those sites is the fair. At the fair she sees the Butter Cow. Cohan has been amazed by this. It is really what he was most excited to see.
After walking around, it was time to ride rides!!!!
Ireland was not tall enough to ride any, but sure did love to have GramMo hold her so she could wave at Cohan.
We turned a corner, and Cohan took off. He ran as soon as he saw my dad and step-mom. He wanted them to watch him ride some rides.
Ireland continued to wave...
He even made my dad ride the carousel.
Ireland waved...
These is so much to do at the fair for kids. Cohan loved the children's petting zoo.
After a day walking, they were ready for the parade. We sat with my good friend from high school and her family. Ireland just wanted her corn dog.
The next morning, we woke up to the paper that featured Cohan at the butter cow. A man had come up to us while we were there telling us that he'd never seen kids so excited to see the butter cow. I explained the book. He asked to take their picture, then told me he was from the paper.
I also love watching the kids play in the mornings at my mom's house. The decorations they use as toys is hilarious. Here, her wire angel is a parking garage.
Poor Ireland's allergies were so bad while we were home. I think they got worse after spending the day at the fair. She woke up each morning with her eyes matted shut. Poor baby!
And then there's Ireland and her babies and purses. She always carries one of them. She found my mom's babies from when she was little. She rocked them, sang to them and carried them everywhere.
My mom had the idea of taking the kids to the water park. I was excited to go, since I was a lifeguard at this same water park for several summers years ago. They loved Knight's Action Park!!
Friday night, my MeMo, my cousin, Ryan, and his wife, Jenna, and their two kids, Nolan and Norah, came over for dinner and to play. The kids loved playing in the back yard and Ireland loved her first Popsicle!
Then, they had the best dance party I've seen in years.
Saturday was more of the same. We did some shopping in the morning and then headed to my aunt and uncles house, after church, to see them and some of my cousins. Cohan and Ireland loved playing with Frankie. I love when kids get along so well!!!!
Sunday morning we packed up and headed back home, but first they played in the yard a little...
They were so excited to see Daddy!!!
Thanks for such a fun trip home GramMo!! We miss you already!!1
