Where Did Summer Go?

Where has summer gone?

I was talking to a friend the other day that asked me this. I said I wasn't sure. I responded with the fact that I didn't get half the things done I wanted and I have nothing to show of it. Then I got to thinking. This summer was the best summer I have ever had. I might not have worked in the yard as much as I should have, I might not have cleaned the house enough or let laundry pile up, but I watched my baby become a toddler.

Today, I went through pictures of the summer. I realized how much we did and how much Cohan has changed. We are truly blessed. Tomorrow I go back to work full time. I think this might be harder for me than going back after maternity leave. Before, I was leaving a baby, now I am leaving a walking, talking, little man with his own personality that I just can't seem to get enough of.

So when someone says where did summer go, I have an answer. It went to pool time, learning to eat corn on the cob, learning to say please and thank you, swimming lessons, reading books, picnics, time outs, playing in the park, night walks in the wagon, boat rides, Tumble Bees, trips to Springfield, lake time, visitors from out of town, learning to vacuum, Popsicles, teasing dogs, sunsets, family reunions, beef jerky, super hero capes, four wheelers, fish kisses, reading books and being spoiled rotten because he can be.

That's where our summer went.
